About & Disclosure

Who runs this site

DAFT Guide is an independent information site about the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty (DAFT) residence permit, built to answer the questions we couldn't find a single straight answer to while researching the process ourselves: what's actually confirmed by the IND, and what several other guides get wrong or disagree on.

Our partnership, in plain terms

We work in partnership with Slim Geregeld Administratie (https://slim-geregeld.nl), a BECON-registered Dutch bookkeeping practice. They prepare the signed opening balance sheet the IND asks for, write up the renewal statement your permit extension needs, and offer ongoing monthly bookkeeping for DAFT entrepreneurs. See their dedicated DAFT service page for current pricing and turnaround times.

We may receive a referral benefit when you become their client. This does not affect the price you pay. We recommend them because the opening balance sheet and renewal evidence described throughout this site are genuinely easy to get wrong without a bookkeeper who knows this specific permit, and because their own explanation of the €4,500 rule, that it is equity on the balance sheet, not a bank balance, matches what we found independently while researching this site.

How we source our content

Every factual claim on this site, the €4,500 capital requirement, fees, deadlines, renewal rules, is tracked against its exact source, how reliable we judge it, and whether an official source (mainly ind.nl) has confirmed it. Where sources disagree, we say so explicitly instead of picking one silently. We do not copy text, headings or layout from any other DAFT information site, including our own partner's.

General information, not advice

This page provides general information only. It is not legal or tax advice. Rules change and individual circumstances vary. Always verify details with the IND or a qualified adviser before acting.
